Meet Steve

I’m Steve Bradley, the founder of Karaobics. I started my personal training business, The Fitness Guy, in 2010, but music has always been what gets me moving.

A good playlist made me work harder and stay in the gym that little bit longer. When I trained clients, I always asked what they wanted to listen to. I could see the difference when they exercised to music they genuinely loved.

When I moved into online coaching in 2015, that came with me. Music was a huge part of my home workout videos, and I’d regularly get carried away and start singing.

Was the singing good? Not particularly. Was I enjoying myself? Absolutely.

I had to find a different way to move

In 2020, I started experiencing recurring back pain and spasms. The things I’d always enjoyed, including heavy weights, running and high-intensity exercise, were often the things that triggered it.

After trying numerous treatments, a scan revealed disc problems, and I eventually needed surgery. Recovery was a long road, and it didn’t mean the pain disappeared completely. I had to rethink how I exercised.

That meant more stretching, yoga and lighter weights. But I still wanted a form of cardio I could enjoy regularly.

Rather than dwelling on what I couldn’t do, I started focusing on what I could.

I loved music. I loved dancing. I loved singing. And I thought there must be other people looking for a different way to enjoy exercise, too.

A little karaoke. A little aerobics. A lot of fun.

Born in the 70s and growing up through the 80s and 90s, I’ve always loved nostalgia. Especially those songs that take you straight back to a particular time in your life. So why not combine karaoke with old-school aerobics?

I’m not a great dancer, and I’ve actually been booed out of a pub for my singing! But being good at either was never the point.

I wanted simple, easy-to-follow moves, familiar songs and on-screen lyrics to get you caught up in the music rather than watching the clock. Exercise to look forward to, not another chore.

Karaobics was born in 2024. I spent two years creating workouts around one belief:

The best exercise programme is the one you’ll actually keep doing.

You don’t need perfect steps or a perfect voice. Sing along or just enjoy the music. What matters is finding a way to move that makes you want to come back.

I hope you love Karaobics as much as I do.

See you on the dance floor!
Steve
